How we source
Every article on LLC Answers is built on the same rule: trace each fee, deadline and requirement to the agency that publishes it before we put a number on the page.
Our sources
For anything state-specific, the source is that state's Secretary of State or equivalent business filing office. For federal tax questions, it is the IRS. For state taxes, the state revenue department. We link them so you can confirm the figure at the source, which matters more here than in most subjects because the source is the only thing that is actually binding.
Numbers carry a date
Filing fees, expedite options and processing times change, sometimes with little notice. We date the figures we publish and re-check them rather than letting an old number sit and quietly become wrong. Where a state quotes a range or a "currently around" estimate, we pass that uncertainty on instead of inventing precision.
Where we stop
We explain what the rules say and what the trade-offs are. We do not tell you which entity to choose, how to allocate ownership, or how to be taxed, because those depend on facts we do not have and answering them would be practising law. When a question crosses that line we say so and point you to a licensed professional.
Independence
Editorial content is independent of any commercial relationship. Some articles include one clearly-marked, disclosed option; it never changes our assessment, and we say when the free route is the better one. See ouraffiliate disclosure and editorial standards.
